INTRODUCTION​​

The power of the Mind

Kingpin is a portrait about inner power. Not the kind that dominates others, but the strength that comes from deep self-belief. It is an insight on how our thoughts shape our lives. Every conviction we carry, whether uplifting or destructive, forms the lens through which we see ourselves and the world around us.

The Crown
The crown is not a symbol of status, but of consciousness. It sits gently on the figure’s head, in alignment with herself. It represents clarity and focus when working with positive thoughts. When dealing with negative thoughts it can seem crushing.
The fishtail
Around her neck we see a sculpted, scale-like fishtail as a subtle nod to the artist’s astrological sign; Pisces. Known for its deep intuition, Pisces represents inner wisdom. This detail reminds us that true power can be soft and enduring.
The Style
This work marks a new direction for Christiane Vleugels. While still deeply detailed in the face, the background and shoulders are handled with a more expressive approach. Thick textures and visible brushwork add emotional depth.
